Multi-species Scholarship Across the Generations: In Conversation with Donna Haraway

Over the past few decades, multispecies worlds have emerged as a leading site of groundbreaking scholarship, within and outside anthropology. That ground was first broken, we might say, by Donna Haraway, whose creative and innovative work – from A Cyborg Manifesto (1985) and Primate Visions (1989) through Staying with the Trouble (2016) – remains a touchstone for anthropologists working on the ways humans and other beings live in entangled worlds of care and kinship, violence and vulnerability, desire and indifference, and ethics and politics. This session will put Haraway in conversation with later generations of anthropologists who have engaged her work to consider the stakes, limits, and futures of multispecies anthropology.
